Product detailed description

Château Cantemerle 2016 comes from one of the most successful vintages in Bordeaux in recent decades. The combination of a dry summer and ideal conditions during the harvest allowed for the creation of a wine with an extraordinary balance between concentration, freshness and structure. Balance is the main feature of this vintage, which is often described as a reference example of classic Bordeaux.

The aroma reveals notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and subtle spicy nuances complemented by a touch of cedar wood. On the palate, the wine is precisely structured, with elegant tannins, lively acidity and a long, harmonious finish. Château Cantemerle 2016 offers a classic expression of the Left Bank with the potential for further aging.

Serve at 16-18 °C after decanting for an hour. It will perfectly complement lamb, beef steak or game dishes.

Château Cantemerle

Château Cantemerle is one of the first grand cru classé estates from Bordeaux. It was classified as a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru Classé) in 1855. The château’s history dates back to the 14th century when it served as part of the line of fortifications protecting the shores of the Médoc.

The estate is currently managed by Philippe Dambrine and belongs to an insurance company. The vines are cultivated on 87 hectares, divided into three roughly equal parts, which are alternately left fallow to allow the soil to rest before being replanted with a different grape variety. The wine ages for 12 months in oak barrels, with 30% being new.

Cantemerle wine consistently represents one of the best possible purchases in terms of quality/price ratio.
