Product detailed description

The 2018 vintage is one of the most concentrated and generous vintages of the modern Bordeaux era. Warm and sunny weather brought exceptional ripeness to the grapes, which is reflected in the rich and generous style of the wine. Yet Château Cantemerle retains the elegance and freshness that are characteristic of this winery.

The wine offers an intense aromatic expression of dark fruit, plums and blackcurrants with subtle notes of spice and quality oak. The taste is full, structured and velvety, with ripe tannins and a long finish. This is an impressive vintage that combines power with refinement and will continue to develop beautifully in the bottle.

We recommend serving at a temperature of 16-18 ° C after decanting for at least an hour. It goes well with roast lamb, beef Wellington or mature cheeses.

Château Cantemerle

Château Cantemerle is one of the first grand cru classé estates from Bordeaux. It was classified as a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru Classé) in 1855. The château’s history dates back to the 14th century when it served as part of the line of fortifications protecting the shores of the Médoc.

The estate is currently managed by Philippe Dambrine and belongs to an insurance company. The vines are cultivated on 87 hectares, divided into three roughly equal parts, which are alternately left fallow to allow the soil to rest before being replanted with a different grape variety. The wine ages for 12 months in oak barrels, with 30% being new.

Cantemerle wine consistently represents one of the best possible purchases in terms of quality/price ratio.
