Product detailed description

Château Cantemerle 2020 is a modern take on the classic Haut-Médoc. The vintage was characterized by a warm vegetation and low yields, resulting in a wine with excellent concentration, strong aromas and precise structure. Despite its intensity, it retains the elegance and freshness that are typical of Cantemerle.

The aroma is dominated by notes of dark forest fruits, blackcurrants and subtle spicy nuances. The taste is energetic, well-structured and balanced, with firm but cultivated tannins and a long finish. Château Cantemerle 2020 has very good aging potential and already shows the high quality of this vintage.

Serve at 16-18 °C after decanting for at least one hour. It will perfectly complement roast beef, duck or game.

Château Cantemerle

Château Cantemerle is one of the first grand cru classé estates from Bordeaux. It was classified as a Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru Classé) in 1855. The château’s history dates back to the 14th century when it served as part of the line of fortifications protecting the shores of the Médoc.

The estate is currently managed by Philippe Dambrine and belongs to an insurance company. The vines are cultivated on 87 hectares, divided into three roughly equal parts, which are alternately left fallow to allow the soil to rest before being replanted with a different grape variety. The wine ages for 12 months in oak barrels, with 30% being new.

Cantemerle wine consistently represents one of the best possible purchases in terms of quality/price ratio.
