Chateau Charmail

Château Charmail is located in the northernmost part of the Haut-Médoc appellation, right on the border with Saint-Estèphe and neighbouring the renowned Château Sociando-Mallet. The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century, when it was acquired by the Treveys de Charmail family, after whom it takes its name; wine production began here during the 17th century.

Château Charmail benefits from an exceptional location – the gently undulating terrain with a southern exposure promotes optimal grape ripening, while the moderate winds provide natural ventilation of the vineyards. Great emphasis is placed on the quality of the fruit, and harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand.

Château Charmail holds the classification of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel. The vineyards are planted mainly with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The estate uses gentle winemaking techniques, including pre-fermentation cold maceration, which helps preserve the intensity of aromas and contributes to the depth and elegant structure of the wines.
