Product detailed description

The 2008 vintage offers the elegant and classic style of Margaux, with a delicate structure and pronounced aromatics. The wine has a deep ruby color and a complex aroma of ripe black currants, cherries, violets, and subtle notes of cedarwood and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with balanced tannins, refreshing acidity, and a delicate, long finish. It pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, roasted poultry, or delicately aged cheeses.

Chateu Kirwan

Château Kirwan is a prestigious winery located in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc region in Bordeaux. It was established in the 18th century when Irish merchant Mark Kirwan merged two neighboring estates, laying the foundation for the current property. Thanks to his efforts, Château Kirwan quickly gained recognition and was classified as a Troisième Cru (Third Growth) in the famous 1855 Bordeaux classification. Since 1926, the estate has been owned by the Schÿler family, who have deep roots in the Bordeaux wine trade and have long contributed to the development and prestige of the château.

The vineyards of Château Kirwan cover 37 hectares on the Cantenac plateau, the highest point in the Margaux appellation. The soils are composed mainly of gravel with varying amounts of clay and sand, allowing the grapes to express remarkable minerality and elegance. The vineyard plantings include primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (47%), Merlot (35%), along with Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (8%), giving the wines richness, structure, and longevity.

Château Kirwan wines are the result of meticulous work, from the vineyard to the final aging in barrels. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified separately according to individual vineyard plots, in order to best express the unique character of each terroir. The wines are aged for approximately 18 months in oak barrels, half of which are new, lending finesse, complexity, and long aging potential. Wines from Château Kirwan are typical of Margaux – elegant, harmonious, with expressive fruit, fine tannins, and a long finish.
