Product detailed description

The final blend took place in mid-January with a harmonious and distinct selection that led us to integrate a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (77%). The 2014 vintage of Chateau d'Issan cannot be compared to any other, but is clearly identifiable by its original terroir.

Unexpectedly crisp and spicy, slightly earthy in nose with hints of blackcurrant, violets and plums. The palate has a subtle hint of burntness, but the plum undertones bring a subtly sweet fruity elegance. The colour of the wine is intense and clear, with a violet tinge and a lighter transition at the edge. The aroma is distinctive, clean and inviting. It is dominated by a strong barrique note, followed by fruit accents, particularly blackcurrant, blueberry and cherry. There are also subtle animal nuances, reminiscent of a stable. Overall, the wine gives a sweet impression.

Château d'Issan

Château d'Issan is one of the most renowned vineyards in Bordeaux. The winery is located in the town of Margaux, southeast of the famous Château Margaux. Château d'Issan is situated on an island surrounded by a moat.

Wine from Château d'Issan was served at the wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry Plantagenet, and Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph ordered it for his table at the Hofburg. This estate is an integral part of French cultural heritage.

Since 1998, the winery has been managed by Emmanuel Cruse, the youngest of the Cruse family. Emmanuel embarked on a path of systematic changes with admirable courage and determination. They improved everything that could be improved. By focusing on quality at Château d'Issan for several years, the wines exhibit remarkable charm and aroma, which is mature yet non-aggressive.

The estate covers approximately 53 hectares of medium-sized vineyards. 70% of the area is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% with Merlot. The vineyards produce 60-70,000 bottles of wine.
